Performing Arts

Visual and performing arts are an integral part of GPS's Lower and Middle School programs.  Performing arts gives students an opportunity to be creative, work together as a group and encourages confidence as they step out on the stage.  Students in both Lower School and Middle School perform in various events throughout the year.

Lower School Musical

Students in grades Kindergarten to 5th grade participate in a musical performance in the fall. Working with our Music teacher, students gain the ability to learn music and perform in front of a live audience. As a collaborative production our students bring various components of performance to the stage.  They sing, dance, act and amaze the audience with their talents.

Middle School Spring Musical

Students in grades 6th, 7th and 8th are given the opportunity to experience the process and reward of doing musical theater as an elective.  As a student led production, our middle school students can participate as part of the cast, technical and backstage crew, as well as set and lighting design, and costume and make-up design. From beginning to end students gain confidence during the audition process, learn discipline and responsibility through the rehearsal schedule and have a chance to work on their craft with positive feedback and guidance from GPS's production staff.  Past performances include:

  • Into the Woods

  • Aladdin

  • High School Musical

  • Lion King

  • Shrek

All School Concert

Students in all grades come together at the all school winter concert. Classes participate with vocal and instrumental

performances, dance pieces, poetry and readings highlighting culture and tradition from a global perspective. This performance gives our students the chance to be on stage in front of our school community and share their learning and talents. Through this performance students are able to acquire new skills, re-enforce knowledge, and enrich their understanding of the world.
